Car-Free Avenue will be back in July 2021! Part of the road in the heart of Tartu will once again become a unique urban space to enjoy the activities or just relax and recharge your batteries. This summer, the nearby park will be full of activities as well!
There will be a bigger wading pool, Tartu 2024 area, Bobby Sager’s exhibition “Invisible Sun”, labyrinth of swings, small adventure park, skatepark, food trucks, picnic tables, design markets, concerts, programmes and workshops, outdoor cinema, and much more.
The purpose of the Car-Free Avenue is to enliven the city centre and offer unique urban experience, invite people to enjoy exciting recreational opportunities and a diverse programme, recognise environmental problems and propose solutions, emphasise Tartu as a green and people-oriented destination in Estonia as well as in the world.
The entire area will be designed with the 2 + 2 distance rule in mind. Activities and catering will be organised so that visitors could be scattered and there will be hand washing stations. Security staff will be employed to help prevent large gatherings. Changes may occur in the programme.
