Description

Step out of your comfort zone — Caution, inconvenient! Come and sit on a chair that won’t let you forget you’re sitting. Walk across a floor that ripples beneath your feet. Comfort is not something we should take for granted. It's science, design, and thousands of years of human experience compressed into a perfectly shaped step you have never even noticed.

Why does a crooked handle suddenly make us aware of our own palm? Why does a ceiling that is just a little too low make us bend — not only with our bodies, but also in our minds? Discomfort is really attention — the body’s way of saying: “Hey, you are here.”

At this exhibition, you can experience it all for yourself. Sit, step, bend, balance, and see how even the smallest changes in space or form immediately affect how you feel.

Some exhibits will surprise you, some will challenge you, and others will make you burst out laughing. And that is exactly how you begin to realise how much work goes into making the world around us comfortable.
