Description
Molière’s legendary The Miser brings to the stage comic situations that have made audiences laugh since 1668 and continue to do so today. From a tangle of greed, love, and intrigue emerges a brisk and elegant comedy in which every character is fighting for something – or against someone.
At the heart of the story is Harpagon, a man whose heart is as hard as the gold coins clinking at the bottom of his strongbox. He loves only one thing – his wealth – and is willing to sacrifice even his children’s happiness and his own dignity to nail the lid of his treasure chest shut even tighter. But since this is a comedy, fate rarely bows to Harpagon’s wishes…
