About the Exhibition
---
The exhibition examines Estonia’s (primarily Harju and Ida-Viru County’s) fading industrial landscapes, drawing on photo and video documentation from the past decade alongside public archival materials.
The resulting (photo)illustrations reflect on the status and fate of industrial landscapes, aiming to bypass the conventional narratives often imposed on remote and uncomfortable places.
- What multilayered history should we keep in mind when looking at industrial landscapes?
- How should we assess the cultural and historical value of these sites?
- Why might one see future potential even in ruins?
It is no coincidence that over the past decade, more and more real estate developers across Estonia's larger cities have been revamping former industrial giants in hopes of substantial returns, transforming dusty workspaces into modern commercial and residential spaces. Industrial architecture carries its own visual appeal, which is, however, felt far less in comparable sites located beyond the capital.
The exhibition features numerous frames that can no longer be captured in the physical world. Only two-dimensional figures and contours hint at what once was. Do we remember, or are we without memory?

About the Artist

Kevin Loigu is a photographer and cultural researcher whose visual signature is built on nearly 20 years of experience along the intersections of visual art, literature, and film. His creative work and research explore the links between memory, media, and urban space, which he unfolds both in documentary form and through a more staged spatial dialogue.

📌 Location: Redwall Gallery is located on the 2nd floor of Aparaaditehas, on the Kastani Street side (door no. 2).
👋 Opening hours: Mon–Fri 9:00–17:00 (except public holidays). Upon arrival (you will see the "Cosmonauts" mural in the hallway), please call +372 772 3001. We will let you through the partition door to enjoy the exhibition!
📣 Sales: Artworks are available for purchase. Purchased works can be collected after the exhibition closes.
