27 - 32 €

From 1 to 15 November, From Forest to Table returns for its seventh edition, bringing two weeks of forest-inspired special menus to restaurants and cafés across South Estonia.

And these are no ordinary menus! Porcini mushrooms become crème brûlée, birch leaves share a plate with cold-smoked pike-perch, and moose gets the schnitzel treatment.

Since the dawn of humanity, people have turned to the forest for food. Gathering, hunting and experimenting. Our foraging instincts are still very much alive, but the methods have become considerably more convenient. These days, you can leave the basket at home, bring a healthy appetite and let someone else take care of the harvest.

The rules of the campaign are simple: each participating restaurant or café creates a special two-course menu with a little surprise from the chef. Every dish must contain at least one ingredient from the forest, but beyond that, the chefs are free to let their creativity run wild.

The special two-course menus cost between €27 and €32, and each comes with a little surprise from the chef.

15 days, six counties and plenty of reasons to leave the house for a good meal this November. Restaurants and cafés across Tartu, Jõgeva, Põlva, Võru, Valga and Viljandi counties are taking part. Whether you're looking to discover a new restaurant or embark on a proper food tour of South Estonia, there's a good chance one dinner simply won't be enough.

You'll find all participating restaurants and their special menus on our website.

Natural selection favours those who book their tables early.
