Vanemuine Foyer Concerts offer intimate musical experiences in the foyer of the theatre’s grand building. The series presents diverse programmes featuring works by Estonian and international composers, while giving audiences the opportunity to enjoy music in close proximity to the performers.

Beauty and the Brass
The concert is divided into two contrasting parts. The first, Beauty and the Brass, brings together two remarkably different instruments: the harp and the tuba. The harp is elegant and ethereal, while the tuba is warm and resonant. Although an unexpected pairing, these two instruments blend with surprising naturalness and colour in an intimate chamber music setting.
The second half, All You Need Is Love, belongs to the Vanemuine Brass Quintet, performing music by The Beatles with the energy and brilliance characteristic of a brass ensemble. The programme features Christopher Dedrick’s Canadian Brass arrangements of thirteen classics by John Lennon and Paul McCartney. These refined and technically demanding chamber arrangements reveal the rich palette of colours, varied textures and virtuosic possibilities of the brass quintet.

After successfully finding common ground during its previous production, Virst Steps, V returns to the golden glow of the Vanemuine foyer concert stage. It is time to get to know each other better and although traditions differ, Christmas is celebrated by every member of V. But what really happens around the Christmas tree in Germany, Italy and Brazil? And in Belgium? Korea, Costa Rica, Estonia?
One V-thing is certain: Christmas is a time for visits – and V velcomes a visitor!

Aperitivo Rota
For the 1959 Festival dei Due Mondi in Spoleto, Nino Rota composed his idillio musicale La scuola di guida (Driving School), a short opera for soprano and tenor about a blossoming romance between a driving instructor and his pupil. In the 2026/2027 season, the work comes to the Vanemuine Foyer Concerts, offering a witty and elegant introduction to Rota's opera Il cappello di paglia di Firenze (The Florentine Straw Hat), which joins the Vanemuine repertoire later in the season.
To complete the evening, few choices could be more fitting than the music of Gian Carlo Menotti. Born in the same year as Rota, he was also his fellow student at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia and the founder of the Festival dei Due Mondi. His comic opera The Telephone completes a programme that leads the audience into a world of love stories, boogie-woogie and warm-hearted humour.

Fiery Piano
Mozart’s and Beethoven’s quintets featured in this concert belong to the classics of chamber music. Both works bring together the piano and wind instruments in a vibrant and expressive ensemble, where virtuosity meets elegant chamber interplay. The concert features Vanemuine orchestra musicians together with pianist Stefano Chiurchiù.
