🪔 Tartu Diwali 2026 – Festival of Lights ✨
Diwali, the Festival of Lights, is one of India's most cherished festivals, symbolizing the triumph of light over darkness, good over evil, and hope over despair. Our celebration will bring together members of the Indian community, Estonian friends, and people from diverse cultural backgrounds for an evening of cultural performances, music, delicious Indian food, and shared festivities.
Traditionally celebrated by lighting oil lamps (diyas), decorating homes with colourful rangoli patterns, sharing sweets, and gathering with loved ones, Diwali represents joy, renewal, prosperity, and togetherness. Beyond its religious and cultural roots, the Festival of Lights carries a universal message of hope, kindness, and unity that resonates across cultures and communities.
The event is also part of the Embassy of India's Diwali Week programme, an initiative spreading the festive spirit of Diwali across Estonia. As part of this programme, participating restaurants across the country will showcase special Indian menus, inviting people to discover the richness and diversity of Indian cuisine.
Over the years, Diwali celebrations by the Indian Association of Estonia (IAE) have brought together people from different communities and backgrounds to share the joy of Indian culture, traditions, food, music, and togetherness.
To everyone who celebrated with us in previous years, thank you for making those occasions so memorable! We would love to welcome you back. And to those who haven't joined us before, we warmly invite you to experience the magic of Diwali with us this year!
