Marko Haavisto & Poutahaukat is a long-running Finnish band whose music combines the traditions of American roots music with the honesty of Finnish storytelling.
Their sound draws influences from country, blues and rock, while remaining distinctly their own.
Over the course of their career, the band has released 14 albums and is widely known for its collaboration with film director Aki Kaurismäki, as well as for the song Paha vaanii.
The band has both performed in Aki Kaurismäki’s film productions and had its music featured in his films. Their collaboration is particularly notable in The Man Without a Past (Mies vailla menneisyyttä, 2002), in which Marko Haavisto & Poutahaukat have a prominent presence.
Marko Haavisto & Poutahaukat brings joy and nostalgia to the stage, while also embracing fresh sounds and ideas that resonate with younger generations. In their music, the past and the present meet naturally, creating a distinctive and warm-hearted musical experience.
The band’s latest full-length album, Elämään tarkoitusta, was released in spring 2026. Following the release, the band embarked on an album release tour across Finland and is now bringing the tour to Estonia as well. The concerts feature songs from the new album alongside material from the band’s earlier catalogue – familiar favourites as well as fresh stories and sounds from their long career.

Allan Vainola released his solo debut, “Unenäopüüdjad” (Dreamcatchers), in 2006. A year later, he was awarded the title of Male Artist of the Year at the Estonian Music Awards for this album. Unenäopüüdjad subsequently became a three-member, later a four-member band. They remain a musical ensemble that still performs exclusive, rare concerts.
Allan Vainola himself has described Unenäopüüdjad as follows: “There was a period in my youth when I played nothing but the acoustic guitar for a long time and accompanied myself on it. On trips, hikes, in youth camps, and so on. Most of the songs I wrote in my youth were composed on the acoustic guitar, for example, Vennaskond’s earlier tracks such as “Riia, mu arm” (“Riga, my dear”) and “Insener Garini hüperboloid” (Engineer Garin’s hyperboloid”). Unenäopüüdjad are like a summary and further development of that period. I can’t say whether this is directly punk, but musically it’s certainly something distinct and original.”
